NiSource Signs 20-Year Microsoft Power Agreement for Indiana Campus
NiSource expects Microsoft service to start in 2028 under an agreement adding about 1,100 MW to GenCo’s resource pool.
NiSource announced a 20-year energy agreement for Microsoft’s northwest Indiana data-center campus, with electric service expected to begin in 2028.
The company says its GenCo resource portfolio would increase by approximately 1,100 MW. Microsoft is to fund the generation and transmission needed for its load. The announcement describes a contracted development program, not 1,100 MW already operating.
NiSource also reported a 600 MW battery-storage tolling agreement with a facility to be developed by an AGP Group affiliate. That resource will join a pool serving multiple large-load customers; it should not be treated as dedicated solely to Microsoft.
Expected savings for existing NIPSCO customers are company projections. Regulatory approvals, construction execution and customer development remain relevant delivery risks.
