The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced $1 million in Community Project Funding for a wastewater pipeline connection within Fort Pierce Utilities Authority’s continuing treatment-system relocation program.
The federal grant will support 900 feet of 24-inch pipeline and related equipment linking Lift Station F to an existing pipeline along Glenview Avenue. The connection is part of Phase 2 of FPUA’s program to redirect wastewater flows from South Hutchinson Island to the utility’s mainland Water Reclamation & Reuse Facility.
EPA said the mainland treatment facility broke ground in 2023 and completed construction in 2025. The active conveyance phase includes 17 additional projects. FPUA has separately reported completed work on the Jenkins Road Force Main and continuing work on Lift Station A, the Downtown Force Main and other booster-station and force-main improvements.
The $1 million is a federal grant for the Lift Station F pipeline component, not the total cost of the broader relocation program or an awarded construction contract. EPA’s October 27 announcement did not identify a contractor, bid package or open solicitation for the funded work.
What comes next
FPUA’s Phase 2 conveyance program remains in design, permitting and construction across multiple packages. Neither EPA nor FPUA announced a completion date or procurement schedule for the Lift Station F connection. Firms tracking the work should use FPUA’s official bid-posting system for any future solicitation rather than treating the grant announcement as an invitation to bid.
The commercial signal is continued municipal demand for force mains, lift stations, pipeline equipment and construction management as Fort Pierce completes the mainland transition. The exact addressable scope remains unverified until formal procurement records are issued.
