Digital Realty Starts 24 MW KIX15 Data Center Construction in Osaka

The MC Digital Realty joint venture targets fourth-quarter 2028 operations with hybrid air and liquid cooling.

Digital Realty announced construction of KIX15 on October 7, a 24 MW facility at its KIX Campus in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture. MC Digital Realty, its equal joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation, is developing the fifth building at the campus.

The facility is scheduled to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2028. It is designed for high-density computing with hybrid air and liquid cooling. The company says completion would bring the joint venture’s Japan portfolio to ten data centers and approximately 220 MW of aggregate IT capacity.

Those figures describe future portfolio capacity, not capacity already commissioned at KIX15. The announcement does not disclose a construction budget or identify an open procurement package.
