NAVFAC Southeast has awarded a $33.1 million contract to B.L. Harbert International of Birmingham, Alabama, for a warehouse at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. The September 28 announcement reports a September 10 award.
The planned 156,600-square-foot facility will support Defense Logistics Agency operations. Its scope includes approximately 1,300 square feet of administrative space, a fire-pump system with redundant diesel and electric capability, and supporting parking, walkways, ramps and utilities.
The warehouse design incorporates elevation to improve flood resilience. The award connects storage capacity and base logistics with the supporting systems needed to maintain a usable facility during demanding operating conditions.
Infraday analysis
Logistics facilities create operational value through reliable access, fire protection and utility performance as much as through storage volume. At a coastal installation, elevation and drainage interfaces deserve attention alongside the building itself. For delivery teams, the awarded scope points to a coordinated package of civil, structural and building-system work serving an active military installation.
