The City of Mustang, Oklahoma, has completed a $5.9 million advanced metering infrastructure project that replaced more than 8,000 water meters across the municipal system.
Ameresco managed the project from an investment-grade audit through installation and staff transition. The company said construction was completed in five months, half the original 10-month schedule, with limited disruption to residents and water-utility operations.
The system automates remote meter reading and gives city staff more timely consumption data to investigate unusual use and potential leaks. It also supports billing, account research and customer-service functions, while a customer portal gives residents direct access to their water-use information.
Mustang Public Works Director David Russell said Ameresco helped the city evaluate the existing system, select an approach and manage implementation. Ameresco Co-President Louis Maltezos said the project provides operational visibility needed to support the city’s continued growth.
The announced project is complete. Ameresco’s release did not identify a follow-on construction phase or a new procurement date, so the next operational milestone is not publicly dated. The $5.9 million is the project value reported by Ameresco, not a newly awarded contract. Official Ameresco release.
