Original publisher: U.S. Energy Information Administration

Resource type: Report and data suite
Original publisher: U.S. Energy Information Administration
Original release date: April 8, 2026

EIA’s Annual Energy Outlook 2026 compares alternative U.S. energy pathways through 2050. The suite includes a narrative, data tables, visualizations and descriptions of 11 modeled cases. It examines how assumptions about policy, markets and technology affect energy demand and supply.

For infrastructure planning, the electricity discussion addresses data-center demand and future generating capacity. The natural-gas discussion considers production and pipeline requirements. These are conditional scenarios, not predictions or evidence that a particular project is approved.
