Compact fusion reactors and superconducting power systems for ships, off-grid sites and data centers
Overview
Maritime Fusion is developing compact, high-field tokamak fusion reactors for ships and other off-grid applications where energy density and reliable power are critical. Its Yinsen concept targets marine propulsion and onboard electricity generation, while the company is also commercializing high-temperature superconducting technology through its SHIELD power cable for high-current data-center distribution. Founded in 2024 and based in San Francisco, Maritime Fusion participated in Y Combinator’s Winter 2025 batch. The company also reports sponsored research with Columbia University and use of the U.S. Department of Energy’s DIII-D fusion facility.
