Delaware Fast-Tracks $43.3 Million Verizon BEAD Buildout
Delaware added Verizon’s $43.3 million BEAD project to its JobsFirst permitting accelerator to reach more than 2,000 locations.
Delaware added Verizon’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment project to the state’s JobsFirst permitting accelerator on October 20. The state says the US$43.3 million commitment is intended to connect more than 2,000 homes and businesses with high-speed broadband.
The Delaware Broadband Office and Department of Technology and Information will coordinate reviews with state agencies, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and Verizon. Officials described the accelerator as a shared permitting timeline intended to begin construction sooner without changing substantive review requirements.
The state says the project leverages nearly four dollars of private capital for each federal dollar. The announcement does not disclose a construction start date, completion schedule, route map or contractor roster. Those items remain dependent on permitting and project delivery.
