Schneider’s Medium-Voltage Launch Sets a 2027–2028 Path for Wider AI Deployment

A live Equinix pilot accompanies a longer commercialization timeline for software-defined medium-voltage equipment.

Source announcement: September 28, 2026

Schneider Electric unveiled software-defined medium-voltage equipment for AI-ready data centers at YOTTA on September 28. Its architecture separates system intelligence from hardware, using configurable modules and digital functions to support electrical distribution.

The company reports a live pilot with Equinix. Pilot programs continue through 2027, with broader availability expected in 2028. For its RM AirSeT 38 offering, order intake is planned for 2027 and initial deliveries for 2028. Announced performance improvements are vendor claims tied to a documented comparison.

Infraday’s analysis: procurement teams should distinguish demonstrated pilots from equipment available for immediate delivery. Medium-voltage architecture decisions affect protection, testing and maintenance, making commercial availability and project-specific qualification as important as the product roadmap.
