Pennsylvania approved US$190.3 million in PENNVEST financing for 24 drinking-water, wastewater and nonpoint-source projects across 19 counties, the governor’s office announced October 21. The package combines grants and low-interest loans; individual awards should not be read as total project costs unless an issuer separately identifies them that way.

The portfolio includes PFAS treatment in Bucks, Chester and Lackawanna counties; service-line replacement in Erie and Indiana counties; water-distribution upgrades in Franklin, Lancaster and Mercer counties; wastewater work in multiple communities; and agricultural runoff controls. Among the larger awards are a US$22.25 million loan to Bear Valley Joint Authority for distribution-system upgrades and a US$10 million grant to Erie City Water Authority for approximately 1,250 galvanized service replacements.

For contractors and suppliers, the announcement identifies a broad future pipeline, but it does not disclose procurement schedules, delivery methods or selected firms. Those details require follow-up with each recipient and current bid documents.

Why it matters for the industry

The mixed grant-and-loan portfolio identifies a distributed pipeline for treatment, pipe, service-line and wastewater work, but it does not itself establish open procurement or total project budgets.
