NAVFAC Northwest has awarded a multiple-award construction contract with a maximum value of $1 billion. Announced September 25 after the September 24 award, the small-business contract vehicle supports construction needs primarily in Washington.
The scope spans waterfront facilities, operational buildings, industrial shops, quality-of-life facilities and airfields. The ordering period runs through September 2028.
The $1 billion figure is a contract ceiling, rather than an immediate commitment to spend that amount. Work is delivered through individual task orders competed within the awarded contractor pool, so the award should not be read as an open competition for new prime contractors.
Infraday analysis
A multiple-award vehicle establishes a delivery framework before individual projects reach the market. For subcontractors and specialist suppliers, the useful signals are the successful prime contractors and subsequent task-order scopes. Waterfront and airfield work can involve demanding operational interfaces; project-specific requirements will determine where a company’s capabilities fit within the broader program.
